Great place. Lots of places to eat out and shops for convenience. Self cater or eat out. Hire bikes and use them for transport or just relax. Lots of activities to do at the various complexes in the holiday park and it's situated in a lovely tree covered canopy almost like your in the middle of a forest. 4th time visiting on the Friday to Monday break and would come again.
A great place to go especially with children. There is a wide range of activities for every age from young to old. Short stays are ample as most activities have to be paid for on top of accommodation. There are several eating places and a well stocked market. Every season is enjoyable.

Center Parcs Whinfell Forest, Whinfell, Penrith CA10 2DW, UK – 01768 893000
I was in Center Parcs at Whinfell last week and we went round to the Lakeside twice while on my break, once for lunch and once for tea. There is an indoor and an outdoor area at the Lakeside so it was nice to sit outside as we were in the middle of our heatwave. There are various menus available when you sit down - s main menu, a drinks menu, a children's menu and a children's cocktail menu. There are various things on each menu to choose from and a really good selection.. There is also a carvery available at the Lakeside. When you are ready to order at the Lakeside, you go up to the tills and order and pay when you order. There is a large seating area inside and it is pleasant to sit in but it is lovely sitting outside on a nice day, with a good view of the boating lake. You can sit and watch the people on the pedalos or the kayaks, etc. This restaurant is just a couple of minutes walk from the village centre so very conveniently placed. I would definitely recommend it for a meal and if you are having sweet I recommend the sticky toffee pudding - it was the nicest one I'd ever tasted!
Nice place with decent enough variety for adults and children. Carvery also available which was quite nice. Soft play for children under 10. Staff friendly and helpful. Place seemed pretty clean and tidy. Nice view over the lake especially from the outdoor seating area. Will visit again.
If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

The barn is a cracking place where a bunch of us geeky lads meet up once a year to play games and drink booze for a long weekend. It started out as a mates stag do and is quickly becoming a tradition. This year one of the guys hired out the attached house for after the weekend and our families joined us. Very quiet area and no real shops to speak of but very peaceful. There is also a camp site attached. Dog friendly.
Good sized place with everything you need. Pool table has seen better days but is still a nice addition

We are currently in a lodge on Highgate holiday park having had 2 caravans before this in our 10 years on the site. The reason we love this park is because it delivers what it says and is tranquil and well cared for. We now have grandchildren who visit the site and their parents are happy to take them off site to play. There is a very good play park in the village and others round about. We do not have a garden area from choice as we are not interested in having one although we admire other people's' well kept garden areas. In our experience the rules are thoroughly explained before a van is purchased and all make sense in maintaining the safety and quality of the site and the respect for other people. Sue Irving
Having spent four blissfully happy years with Dave, Liz and Charlotte at Highgate, I feel the need to respond to the poor review which was recently posted. Everyone at the campsite is issued with an easy to understand comprehensive set of rules applying to safety and the respectful conduct towards others on the park. These rules are updated yearly if necessary and also fully explained before a purchase is completed of either caravan or lodge. We along with many other people on the park are so happy with the competent running of Highgate that we have upgraded from a caravan to a lodge endorsing our satisfaction with both campsite and owners. We have always found the owners reasonable and approachable. Highgate is a peaceful and relaxing environment nestling in the heart of the Eden valley offering stunning views, abundant wildlife and a tranquil atmosphere. If the above is what you seek, there is no finer place.
