I got a deal from the internet, half price with a 3 course evening meal. Great value and lots of atmosphere. The room was small but comfortable.( wouldn't want to spend more than a couple of nights in it). The meal was great, as was breakfast. The staff welcoming and friendly. Penrith is a nice little market town, worth checking out when staying at the George, ideal location for visiting the Lakes. All in all I liked it.
Slightly overpriced at £170 per night B&B. Pint of Peroni Lager £3.80. Breakfast undercooked. Decor in need of attention. Staff are ok. service is ok, hotel is well over-rated.

Been there over 15 times and really enjoy it. In the early days it was a good value holiday with free access to the pool area and walks around the site. As the children grew up the costs of holidaying also grew as they wanted to partake in the various activities available. Our last visit saw us spend as much on activities as the 4 night accommodation! 3 teenage lads and a couple of activities each is nudging towards £200 Add in some beauty treatment for my wife and daughter and you're looking and total of over £350 The Quality of the food when eating out is great but 1 pint of beer and 1 cider is just short of £10 so dinning out for 6 with just 1 drink each can mount up. Eating in is the order of the day - take plenty of food with you and you'll be ok. Having said that, home cooking is a bit hit and miss with the oven we had last week. If you are happy to do you own meals you can keep the costs down, eat out every night and you may need a bigger credit card. I was happy to see some reinvestment as they are currently renovating a couple of cul-de-sac's so someone in the near future will experience that "new carpet and paint smell". The pool area is looking tired. The tiles above the water line look like they have not seen a sponge and soapy water for a long time, likewise the tiles at the edge of some walkways. I've tried to write an honest review but feel that my comments are quite negative HOWEVER.... I would definitely go again. What more can I say? I've got the Centerparcs bug!
Been a few times and booking our next holiday now, whinfell is the best place I've ever been, for a family or for a couple wanting a break away from life it is amazing, the sub-tropical paradise is outstanding, when you get there you can easily spend another £200-£400, depending how many of you there are, or you could just take walks and make the most of the free parks areas and swimming paradise. Either way it is an outstanding place and well worth every penny spent.

Fantastic place to come whist doing the C2C! Warm welcome and great food. Britain's best cycling pub, complete with the TdF Yellow Jersey 2012!
My wife and I have enjoyed many good meals at this pleasant and friendly pub. The steak night (Wednesdays) are particularly good value. They are very child friendly and have high chairs available. They also serve a very nice pint of Jennings Cumberland Ale.

Excellent, gave this a go as we were in the area, not disappointed excellent food great variety on the menu lovely and clean and cosy inside friendly service to and free on site parking.
In the days where pubs keep on changeing beers and stocking unknowns from micro brewerys its good to see a pub sticking to well known brands. In his case it was a excellent pint of jennings sneck lifter

I can definitely recommend going for Saturday lunch rather that Sunday, as it's so much quieter. The pork and apple burger was brilliant. Hawkshead bitter too. Friendly staff and great decor make it one to return to.
Fantastic food & great service!!!

Very beautiful B&B; owner, style, rooms, food; in fact, everything is impeccable. I stayed here one of the nights on my way cycling solo from Lands End to John O'Groats. Not only was I made to feel at home, Helen the owner and her family were very helpful tolerating my late arrival (10:30pm) and arranging to keep the keys somewhere for me to pick up. She also left a mobile number I can call if any problems and prepared me a stainless room with not just towels but bathrobes and slippers too. I promise myself to return for a proper stay and I shall. Highly recommended.

Stayed here with Dawn (Owner) Friday - Sunday 27th-29th Oct2013. The location to the town centre is ideal...although up a slight hill its not too taxing. The Royal pub is not too far away showing good sports, satellite etc. also a good menu at the pub. A small B+B but homely. Beautifully restored to its present beauty. The visitors book is full of great comments...so to be different...I decided to post on here. Thanks for a good weekend stay dawn and hubby...good English breakfast as well. I will return. x Parking in the vicinity is good... a disc and permit system exists but dawn has all the appropriate documentation.
If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and B provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well.
